MISSION:
The Reel Movement is a quarterly film showcase with the mission to create a seed-bed for "differently thinking" films which personify innovation, individuality and daring strokes of bold new cinema. The Reel Movement accepts all lengths, genres and all styles of films. The key ingredient we are looking for is innovative work. The Reel Movement is especially interested in low-budget, indie spirited filmmakers who are seeking a larger audience for their work around the U.S. and the World, around the web and in the "Brick and Mortar" stores. We will consider any kind of movie... Just as long as you've got something to say, we'll help you to say it.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SHOWCASE:
In the heart of Somerville lay the Somerville Theater, a hotbed of activity, and host to numerous film festivals, as well as rock bands like U2. This is the perfect place for a new and exciting event full of promising new filmmakers. Boston is known for it's history, and it's wealth of universities and artists, but it has also got a vibrant filmmaking community which has seen an explosion in the past couple of years with the state passing huge tax incentives for filmmakers to shoot their productions here.   Being the birthplace of the American revolution, it is no surprise that it has given birth to a new revolution in film.

It is in this spirit that we hope to achieve a place for films that embody the individuality and expressiveness. Films that challenge and explore. Films of all lengths and genres: Features, shorts, documentaries and animation. A Reel Movement.

MORE:
From July 9th to July 13th, Rod Webber's riotous and irreverent feature documentary "A Man Among Giants" will headline along with several dozen shorts made by equally bold and innovative directors.
